Tim Maltby confirmed in a 2016 interview that he was "toying with the idea" of making a short film detailing how the pups actually aren't wolves at all, but are full grown corgi dogs that Humphrey stole as puppies after he and Kate found out that she was sterile, raising the puppies to believe they're wolves and never noticing that they never get any bigger. He said he found the concept amusing based on fans' reactions on the sequels taking place over the span of nearly two years and the pups always staying the exact same size. He mentioned the possibility of including beloved fan favorites, Garth and Lilly in the idea with grown pups of their own greeting their miniature cousins and finding their over confidence and egotistic reactions baffling and amusing despite their puny sizes. Tom Kane, however, has denied it, claiming that "it would never fit with the overall tone and lore of the franchise". As yet, no further development has been seen or mentioned on this idea.
Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom was released on DVD and Digital HD on May 9, 2017 in the United States.
Alpha and Omega: Journey to Bear Kingdom was panned from the majority of the Alpha and Omega fans, though it was still deemed better than Dino Digs. Although some could definitely make the claim that Dino Digs was in fact the superior movie both visually and plot-wise.
